Forthcoming and recent events
Last year,
Chesterton Choral Society gave a very successful spring concert, returning
to St George's Church in Chesterton, and featuring highlights from
Mendelssohn's Elijah. Our splendid guest soloists made a notable
contribution.
This was followed in July by a concert at our 'home' venue under the title 'A Little Light Music', which was enjoyed by all.
Our Christmas concert consisted of a selection of choruses from Bach's Christmas Oratorio, followed by a selection of well-known and less well-known carols, many with audience participation. Both halves were much appreciated by choir and audience alike.
This year's spring concert was again very successful, consisting of a mixed programme with a general theme of Spring, including Purcell, My Beloved Spake and three songs from Haydn, The Seasons, and an instrumental interlude played brilliantly by our accompanist and a guest violinist. Our 2010 summer concert featured Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo, by Horovitz and Flanders, together with a selection of songs with a theme of water and animals, sung to a full house on a very warm evening, and much enjoyed by all.
We now take our summer break, returning in September to begin rehearsing our Christmas programme, of which more later.
